From the perspective of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the "divine right to self-determination" justifies citizens' participation and interference in power. On the other hand, social participation based on this right legitimizes the political system and strengthens its influence in the social space to advance justice. The aim of the current research is to examine the relationship and interaction between justice and social participation and to review the experience of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this field. In this regard, a qualitative method of documentary analysis has been used to advance the research. A study of the experience of the Islamic Republic of Iran shows that there is a positive correlation between periods of reducing inequality and the growth of social participation and civil society, although this relationship is not linear and uninterrupted and is also affected by other factors. In the sixties, when strong redistribution policies were pursued, presence in social arenas was maximal. In the 1970s, due to economic adjustment policies, the weakening of convergent participation occurred, especially in the political sphere. During the reform period, the perception of political justice was strengthened and the growth of institutions and structures of participation, political competition, etc. became prominent. In the 1980s, with the emergence of the discourse of justice and attention to distributive justice, the feeling of relative deprivation and the gap between the center and the periphery decreased in the short term, and therefore political participation reached its peak at the end of this decade, although the grounds for the formation of protest participation also grew. In the 1990s, with the growth of social networks that played a key role in strengthening the perception of injustice, the pattern of social and political participation experienced serious changes, and protest participation became a prominent pattern. Along with the growth of civil disobedience, the downward trend of official and political participation intensified in this period |
